Safety regulators at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report that Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. is recalling 125,466 of its Murano sport-utility vehicles because of a wiring problem that could potentially cause engine failure and result in a crash.
NHTSA says the problem is a result of a wire inside the vehicles' alternators that may break causing the battery to stop charging and the engine to stop running.
Murano SUVS from the 2003 through 2005 model years are affected by the recall.
