2005-2007 Hyundai Accent, Azera, Elantra, Sonata, Tucson Recalled

Recall affects Caribbean, Puerto Rico vehicles

July 29, 2009
Hyundai Caribbean-Puerto Rico is recalling about 3,000 Elantra, Tucson, Sonata, Zera and Accent vehicles from the 2005-2007 model years. A malfunctioning stop light switch may cause the brake lights to fail.

The faulty switch could also affect the operation of the brake-transmission interlock feature and the electronic stability control malfunction light.

Dealers will replace the switch free of charge when the recall begins during August. Owners may contact Hyundai of Puerto Rico at 787-999-4310.

Consumers may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153) or at www.safercar.gov.
