KTM North America is recalling about 2,700 ATVs because of brake failure.
The rear brake caliper support can crack and the front brake operation can experience a loss of pressure, posing a risk of the rider losing braking and steering control and suffering injuries or death.

The model name and KTM logo are located on the side of the recalled ATVs. The following models are included in this recall:
| Model Year | Model Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 2008, 2009 | 450XC | Black/Orange |
| 2008, 2009 | 525XC | Black/Orange |
| 2009 | 450SX | Black/Orange |
| 2009 | 505SX | Black/Orange |
The ATVs were sold by KTM dealers nationwide from August 2007 through January 2009 for between $9,300 and $11,700. They were made in Australia.
Consumers should stop using these vehicles immediately and contact their local KTM dealer to schedule an appointment for a free repair. Consumers with the recalled ATVs have been directly contacted regarding this recall.
