Catlike Kompact Bike Helmets Recall


May 22, 2003 -- About 2,250 Catlike Kompact bike helmets are being recalled because they failed federal impact tests.

HelmetThe recall involves Catlike Kompact adult bicycle helmets. The helmets were sold in two sizes (small/medium and large/extra large) and various colors. The sizing label inside the helmets reads "Kompact" and "SM/MD" or "LG/XL."

The helmets were sold at bicycle shops nationwide from March 2002 through February 2003 for about $130.

Consumers should contact the Monarch Velo Co. for information on receiving a free replacement helmet.
